While the media give attention to "smart bombs" and remote-managed drones, the ravages of war are nonetheless a harrowing actuality for U.S. Army soldiers. In Afghanistan, Iraq and different world scorching spots, frontline troopers face life-threatening injuries. But till the flip of the century, soldiers have been barely outfitted to deal with their wounds. Lt. Col. Donald Parsons in a 2004 issue of Infantry journal. The three main causes of preventable battlefield demise are blood loss from extremity wounds, collapsed lungs and obstructed airways. The Army's Improved First Aid Kit, or IFAK, is designed to address those immediate needs. Developed for the reason that Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, IFAKs are issued to each combat soldier. More streamlined than a full Army medic equipment, the person IFAK is a lightweight assortment of supplies designed to restrict many fight injuries that may often be utilized by the injured solider.
